Getting Started
There are many and varied forms of motorsport and little can match the thrill of attending or participating in an event. Unless you have a friend or relative who is actively involved then the best route is to go along and watch to see if you like it.
Professional motorsport in all its varieties is well covered in the media but the high profile competitors we are familiar with will all have started out as beginners at a club level of motorsport. While few will progress to a professional career, many will be happy to continue to be involved in the lower levels, which are always highly competitive.
Getting started in motorsport is easier than you think and Playface can help you meet contacts who will help you take the first steps.
Kit you'll need
Any form of motor sport is dangerous by definition but the risks are properly managed and having the right safety equipment is absolutely mandatory. There is plenty of advice and guidance so do your research before you buy.
Like most other sports now, the need for proper hydration has been recognized so make sure you have your drinks bottle close whenever you are competing. Losing concentration in motorsport is never a good thing…
What's Good
When you find the form of motorsport for you, it will be all consuming and seriously addictive. While competition is almost always intense, there is usually a friendly atmosphere and newcomers are made welcome. You will make some lifelong friends through motor sport and the camaraderie is hard to beat. Apart from actually competing, there are great opportunities to get involved in other ways such as supporting friends or via the running and marshalling of events.
