Accessibility Statement

Introduction

This page states our intention that our website is usable and accessible to all users and details some of the measures taken. Our objective is to conform to the guidelines for UK government websites, which support the W3C's web content accessibility guidelines 1.0, Level AA, to ensure web accessibility standards have been achieved and are maintained.

Our Mission

Our stated mission is to help make participation in sport accessible to everyone.

Many Internet users with disabilities find websites difficult or even impossible to use simply because of the way they are designed. We have a responsibility under the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) to ensure our pages are accessible to all and we take this responsibility very seriously.

If you come across a part of our site that is difficult to use or could be improved in terms of accessibility we apologise and would be very grateful if you could contact us. Your feedback is an invaluable part of the process of improving our site.

Playface has been developed with reference to priority 1 and 2 guidelines of the W3C Web Content Accessibility Guidelines. We have reviewed all the guidelines and while many are intentionally vague, we believe that Playface adheres to the spirit of this initiative.

Layout

Playface uses Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) to control all of the presentation and layout. Tables are only used for where there really is no other practical solution to presenting data.

As a result screen reader users can use the screen reader's navigation key to get around the site. If you are listening to the site, menus are grouped together in a more logical fashion.

Content

The content has been written and formatted to make it accessible. For example:

  • Headings highlight sections of text.
  • Sentences are short with the meaning at the beginning.
  • Links use meaningful text.
  • Forms can be navigated using the tab key.

Accessibility Barriers

Despite our on-going efforts not all areas of Playface will be fully accessible. We will continue to work on improving things but in the meantime should you experience any difficulties please contact us explaining the problems you encountered.
